Dynamic Department Leader - General Gymnastics

Affinity Gymnastics

Full-time · £18,000-£22,000/year

This person LOVES gymnastics, believes it is a fun force for good and is passionate about sharing that with gymnasts and team members.

Is this you?

  • You are bursting with passion and enthusiasm for gymnastics and believe it is a fun force for good.
  • You share that in an infectious, inspirational way with children and team members.
  • You see that gymnastics is a brilliant balance of technique and creativity – you equally love coming up with new ideas for class as much as you love getting things organised to military precision level.
  • You are committed to doing the best job you can and are curious about how you can improve, learn and take on new challenges – both personally and professionally.
  • You are a great team worker – both in leading, contributing to and learning from.
  • You have experience within a gymnastics environment and are qualified with a L2 (or equivalent) coaching qualification (L1 minimum) and hold experience within an administrative environment (knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software and ability to adapt to new software).

What's the job?

Affinity Gymnastics aspires for everyone to experience the joy and fun in movement, the value of the adventure and to discover you can exceed your own expectations. We achieve this through the provision of gymnastics and related activities.

Are you inspired to be part of a growing business within the sport industry where fun is a key focus alongside professionalism? We are looking for a shiny new Dynamic Department Leader for General Gymnastics. You will be looking after our biggest department, welcoming approximately 500 gymnasts per week with a team of 11 coaches, a mixture of full and part time.

As Department Leader, you will be expected to:

  • Coach classes and lead by example – mainly General Gymnastics (ages 4-13yrs+), Pre-school, and development level competitive gymnastics. Plus be willing to coach in other disciplines as needed.
  • Be responsible for all lesson planning and delivery of sessions in your department.
  • Be organised with all admin and process related to your department – such as badge testing, feedback requests and to plan and deliver end of term displays where gymnasts perform and parents are impressed to watch.
  • Communicate excellently with parents – both at class, through social media fun, written newsletters and emails and on the phone.
  • Ensure coaches are delivering fun and engaging sessions that are of high quality and aid their on-going learning. Run training and mentoring sessions for your department.
  • Have an eye on your membership stats and feed into marketing as needed.
  • Assist with club wide administration and onsite tasks as needed – such as writing postcards, membership admin, facility maintenance/cleaning etc.
  • Participate in team meetings, team activities and team workshops.
  • Feed into wider club projects and development – we want YOUR input!

We’ll know you’re rocking it when:

Gymnasts and coaches are smiling in classes, make progress with the sport and their own development and are retained through the club.
We need to add extra classes and coaches to our offering as more gymnasts want to join the programme.
Parents trust us, feel informed and involved with their child’s training through your communication with them.
Team members are well organised, know what to do, are enthused to teach your planned lessons and keen to learn more from you.
We’re all having a lot of fun!

What we offer in return:

  • Competitive salary
  • Ongoing personal and professional development including individual mentoring programmes.
  • All relevant professional checks, memberships and qualifications.
  • First aid training and qualification.
  • Progression opportunities.
  • Internal staff workshops and training opportunities.
  • Staff outings including annual summer and Christmas parties (this is the highlight of our year!)
  • Uniform (a nice comfy one. With your name on).
  • Free hot drinks at HQ.
  • Free on-site parking
  • Company pension.
  • Fun and fulfilment.
  • Sharing of our general awesomeness.
